BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A contractor who died during an industrial accident at the Kern County Power Plant, last year, had ignored a safety warning from his supervisor, according to a report from the Californian Public Utilities Commission.
The report, which was allegedly obtained by the Californian, said that 51-year-old Luis Robert Minjarez was torch cutting a section of a tank on July 19, 2012, when his supervisor advised him to reposition his lift because it was too close to a wall.
Minjarez apparently ignored his supervisors order and a 40 foot wall collapsed onto his lift, throwing him to the floor.
Minjarez suffered major head injuries and died a short time after the incident.
The CPUC has not official released or authenticated the report.
