Bakersfield police officers were investigating a homicide in Northeast Bakersfield.
It happened on the 1200 block of Telegraph Avenue, off of Haley Street.
Police say at 2:20 a.m. Friday, a family was having party at a home when the homeowner, 32-year-old Andrew Joseph Zamarron stepped away, saying he had to go to the restroom. A short while later, the family found Zamarron bleeding out in front of the home.
A screaming woman called 911, saying that Zamarron had been stabbed.
Zamarron was taken to Kern Medical Center, where he died shortly afterward.
Witnesses told police they saw a small compact car leaving the area at the time. A few hours later a silver Chevy Malibu sedan was found just down the street with blood splattered on the back door. Police have confirmed that car was somehow involved, but wouldn't go into detail.
Neighbors said this is a quiet block, but one neighbor, who did not want to be on camera, said he has seen drug trafficking taking place at that home. He said people arrive at all hours of the night, and leave just minutes afterward. Police have not confirmed if drugs are related. Meanwhile, they said this crime is not gang-related.
Police have no suspects in custody at this time, but they asked anyone with information on this crime to call their department at 661-327-7111.
