Police: 4 To Be Charged In Gang-Related Slaying

Bakersfield police said they have arrested three men in connection with a July 2007 gang-related slaying of Shakka Porter in east Bakersfield.

Police said Porter was shot outside a home on West Columbus Street. He later died at an area hospital.

Detectives said they arrested Bryson Mitchell, 19, John Cherry, 20, and Dorsell Smith, 23. They said Lawrence Slaughter, 24, would be arrested Wednesday.

According to officials, Slaughter is currently in a Northern California prison booked on unrelated charges.
