HOLLADAY, Utah - Thanksgiving night wasn’t the typical relax-after-a-big-dinner holiday for the third son of former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
Thursday night, after dinner with his parents and family, Josh Romney, 38, was driving home with his wife and children when a car sped by him and crashed into the kitchen of a home in Holladay, Utah.
Romney tweeted a photo of himself standing next to the wrecked car, writing “Was first on scene to big accident, see pic of car in the house. I lifted 4 people out to safety. All ok. Thankful -- Josh Romney (@joshromney) November 29, 2013.
Lt. Justin Hoyal, public information officer for the Unified Police of Greater Salt Lake, confirmed to ABC News that Josh Romney was at the scene Thursday night.
What raised the ire of social media was Romney's smiling photo next to a car wreck and his "humblebrag."
"Most people help someone and go on their way. Not @joshromney. So Romneyesque," one person tweeted.
"Why are you smiling like a tourist at such a horrific scene?" another person asked. Another commented, "You took and posted a smiley tourist-type photo of it? Bit odd." Another tweeted, "There are heroes who are humbled by their heroism and there are Romney heroes who brags (sic) by tweeting it! Weird."
Josh Romney is the third of Mitt Romney's five sons.
