PORTERVILLE, Calif. - Porterville police officers responded to a home regarding a stabbing on Saturday night.
At about 10:35 p.m. officers found the victim, Larry Martinez, unconscious just inside the front door of his home, officials said.
Martinez was suffering from multiple stab wounds to his abdomen and was transported to Kaweah Delta District Hospital where he died.
Further investigation and witnesses at the scene identified Dusty James Gonzalez as the suspect, officials said.
Police said Gonzalez's mother, Candy Gonzalez, helped him escape, officials said.
Candy Gonzalez returned to the location of the incident and was subsequently arrested for being an accessory to the crime. She was later booked at the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office.
At about 4:40 a.m., Dusty Gonzalez was found at another home and was taken into custody without incident. He was later booked at the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office for Murder, officials said.
This case is under investigation by the Porterville Police Department’s Investigation Division.
