Recycle Your Christmas Tree

There are several places around Kern County where you can drop off your Christmas Tree.

After Christmas, thousands of Christmas trees will be sliced, minced and diced into a rich mulch to be used by city parks, schoolyards and roadways.

“Kern County has been recycling Christmas trees for over 17 years and now it’s easier than ever to participate in the program” said Daphne Harley, Director of the Kern County Waste Management Department. “Some communities such as Pine Mountain Club use whole trees in wildlife habitat restoration projects by piling them around watering holes to provide shelter for birds. Christmas trees are also used in Lake Isabella for habitat improvement by sinking them into the lake as a haven for small fish.”

Residents are urged to recycle their Christmas trees at one of 29 drop-off locations throughout Kern County
