Sheriff's Son Arrested On Drug Charges

The son of Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood has been arrested on charges of possessing and selling marijuana.

Aaron Kohlbi Youngblood, who will turn 23 years old on Saturday, was arrested on Olive Drive near Highway 99 at about 1:30 a.m., according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

He was riding in a car being driven by Holly Peterson, 23, of Tupman. She was pulled over by police officers on suspicion of speeding. The BPD said officers conducted a search of the car, since Peterson is on probation, and found marijuana and a digital scale.

Both Peterson and Youngblood were arrested on several felony charges and booked into the downtown jail, where each person's bail is set at $45,000.

Aaron's brother, Ruston Youngblood, has also been in trouble with the law. He was arrested in November on suspicion of driving under the influence, one month after a similar arrest.

Donny Youngblood was sworn in as sheriff on Jan. 8.
