CORCORAN, Calif. -

Two Central California teens who suffered major injuries in a car crash that killed another teen are recovering at a Fresno hospital.

Community Regional Medical Center spokeswoman Mary Lisa Russell said 17-year-old Lucia Gomes and 17-year-old Miryan Negrete were in fair condition on Friday.

They were among six teens in a car that crashed outside Corcoran on Wednesday night.

17-year-old Eduardo "Eddy" Garcia died at the scene.

Gomes and Negrete suffered major injuries. The 17-year-old driver and two other passengers in the vehicle, a 16-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy, suffered less serious injuries.

California Highway Patrol spokesman Jerry Pierce said Garcia, Negrete and Gomes were not wearing seatbelts. The cause of the crash is under investigation although alcohol does not appear to have been a factor.
