OAKLAND, Calif. -
A man with a long rap sheet has been charged with firing the shot that killed a former freelance photographer for the Oakland Tribune as he drove home from a friend's house.
The newspaper reports 38-year-old Anthony Lister was placed under arrest at a hospital. Police say Lister, who has ten prior felony convictions, was shot several times in a gunfight with another man near a gas station in East Oakland Friday night.
On Tuesday, he was charged with murder in the death of 54-year-old Lionel "Ray" Fluker, who was hit by a stray bullet as he drove by the gas station. Police are looking for another suspect.
Nick Lammers, director of photographer for the Bay Area News Group, says Fluker took freelance photos for the Tribune from 1995 to 2007.
