FAIRFIELD, Calif. (AP) -
Police say they have arrested a 32-year-old man in the death of a teenage girl whose naked body was found in a Fairfield park a week ago.
Fairfield police said they arrested Anthony Lamar Jones of Fairfield on Friday morning after having him under round-the-clock surveillance as a suspect in 13-year-old Genelle Renee Conway-Allen's slaying.
The seventh-grader was reported missing around 5:45 p.m. on Jan. 31 by her guardian at the foster home in nearby Suisun City where she lived. A passerby found her body in Alan Witt Park the next morning.
Investigators released few details at a news conference announcing Jones' arrest, saying only that they think he acted alone.
Genelle last was seen on the afternoon she went missing at a bus stop she had taken from her middle school, located about eight miles from the park.
