A baby wounded by gunfire in a Richmond neighborhood is improving after he had a bullet fragment removed from his neck.
Police told the Contra Costa Times on Friday morning that the 1-year-old boy was in fair condition. He was struck while being fed by his grandparents inside an apartment the previous afternoon.
Police say the bullets came from outside the unit, and the intended target appears to have been a person on a bicycle in the street.
They have not identified a suspect, but are investigating the incident as potentially gang-related.
Police are also looking into whether a person who turned up at a hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg is connected to this shooting or another incident.
