California Employment Development Department provides help for unemployed

Website offers tips, advice for landing jobs

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - With the unemployment rate in California at about ten percent and federal extension benefits expiring soon, many Californians will be celebrating the holidays while facing financial difficulties.

The California Employment Development Department said there are jobs out there, but finding them isn't easy.

So the EDD recommends going to their website for help.

It offers tips and advice for job seekers and can point them to the EDD's local one-stop career centers.

Strong industries for job seekers right now are high-tech, retail and the medical profession.

To get help from the EDD, you can go to their website www.edd.ca.gov and click on the 'Jobs and Training' tab.
