SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) -
A Southern California man is facing 78 years to life in prison for molesting a relative for nearly a decade and getting her pregnant when she was 11 years old.
An Orange County jury on Wednesday convicted 58-year-old Mariano Antonio Castro on six felony counts, including lewd acts with a child, aggravated assault of a child and continuous sexual abuse of a child.
He will be sentenced on April 26.
Prosecutors say Castro sexually assaulted the girl at his Santa Ana home from 2000 to 2008, starting when she was 8 years old. She gave birth to a girl when she was 12.
She kept the child and only reported the sex and pregnancy to police last year when she began attending a new church and confided in the pastor.
