FRESNO, Calif. - A Fresno man was killed after falling 50 feet from a helicopter.
Shane Krogen, 57, was working with an environmental clean-up crew at an illegal marijuana grow in Tulare county when the accident happened.
Those close to him say he had a passion for fixing up trails and was the founder of the High Sierra Trail Crew.
After the accident Thursday, Krogen was taken a trauma center in Visalia, but his injuries were too severe and he later died.
A spokesperson for the Department of Fish and Wildlife says he doesn't know why Krogen fell out of the helicopter. But he says the U.S. Forest Service and Department of Fish and Wildlife are investigating.
