SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) -- Police say children trying to cross a Santa Ana street were hit by cars, killing one and injuring another.
The Orange County Register (http://bit.ly/13G2GW1 ) says seven children and an adult tried to cross Wednesday night in an area that didn't have a crosswalk.
Police say an 11-year-old girl died when she was hit and thrown into the path of a second car. The cars also struck and injured her 8-year-old brother.
Authorities talked to the drivers and there were no immediate arrests. Investigators haven't determined whether pedestrians or cars had the right of way.
