In the six weeks since the Sandy Hook shooting, there's been constant talk about Congress placing more restrictiongs on gun control.
And now, California Senator Dianne Feinstein has presented Congress a new proposal that includes bans on assault weapons and high capacity ammo magazines that is already facing opposition.
Senator Dianne Feinstein made her message clear Thursday, she wants guns like these rifles, banned.
Feinstein's proposal would upgrade an assault weapons ban that expired in 2004. It would also outlaw ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.
The legislation faces strong opposition from gun rights advocates who believe the weapons are needed for protection.
Former house speaker New Gingrich says this is just a renewed push to bring back the assault weapons ban.
Despite the recent push by the White House and democrats for tougher gun control measures, Feinstein's full proposal is given little chance of winning congressional approval.
