OAKDALE, Calif. - Authorities say a shirtless man who allegedly stole an Alameda County Transit bus from a San Francisco terminal drove it 100 miles before being arrested in Stanislaus County.
California Highway Patrol officers put down road spikes to flatten the bus tires and get the vehicle to stop on Highway 120 in Oakdale Friday.
The driver faces charges including reckless driving, failure to yield, and grand theft.
AC Transit spokesman Clarence Johnson tells KPIX-TV (http://cbsloc.al/1246qSI ) the bus was taken from the temporary Transbay Terminal Friday morning.
The bus was outfitted with a GPS system which allowed the CHP to track it.
No one was on the bus, no one was injured. Johnson says the bus was parked, closed and locked at the terminal.
