LAS VEGAS (AP) -

A Chinese mother dropped to her knees and pleaded for mercy from a Nevada jury considering whether to sentence her 25-year-old son to death for stabbing a man 32 times to death in a crowded Las Vegas karaoke bar.

Ying Chen's outburst came amid her tearful testimony in the penalty phase of Xiao Ye Bai's trial in the death of Wen Jun Li and wounding of two other people in July 2009.

The jury on Monday found Bai guilty of multiple felonies.

Chen testified she hit her young son with a baseball bat to discipline him before he was sent to a martial arts boarding school in China.

The jury has been told that Bai was a hit man for a Chinese gang called United Bamboo.
