PORTERVILLE, Calif. -

A Porterville man was arrested for sodomy and sexual assault of two girls on Tuesday, said officials.

On Dec. 23, 2012, a 15-year-old girl contacted the Porterville Police Department and said that a suspect, John Menchaca, had been sexually assaulting her.

Police said the victim said the most recent incident occurred about two months prior.

Detectives investigated and said they found another victim, a 14-year-old girl, who also said that Menchaca sodomized her several years ago when she was about six-years-old.

On Jan. 29, at about 2:30 p.m., police said Menchaca turned himself in to police at the Porterville Police Department.

According to officials, Menchaca was arrested and booked into the custody of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department for lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14, sodomy, and additional sexual assault charges.

This case remains under investigation by the Porterville Police Department’s Investigations Division.
