San Francisco police say traffic is being disrupted in the city's South of Market area after an advertising banner fell off a plane and landed on some power lines.

Police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza says the banner landed on the lines just before noon Saturday near 5th and Brannan.

Esparza says no injuries have been reported, but traffic lights in the immediate area were not working.

Pacific Gas & Electric spokesman J.D. Guidi says initially power was knocked out to about 2,000 homes and businesses by the falling banner, but by 1 p.m. crews had restored power to all but about 250 customers.

San Francisco police are on the scene directing traffic and firefighters were also standing by.
