BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Today marks the 71st anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

And more than seven decades later, it is still remembered as a day 'which will live in infamy'.

71 years ago, the Japanese bombed the U.S. and kick started America's involvement in World War II.

More than 2,400 Americans died on Dec. 7, 1941.

Locally, there are several events taking place to mark the somber occasion.

Union Cemetery held a remembrance at 9:55 a.m.

Kern County Veterans Memorial will also have one at 12:15 p.m.

And Minter Field Army Air Force Training Base will be participating at 3 p.m.
