SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A single-engine plane has crashed during takeoff from Lake Tahoe Airport in Northern California.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says the Mooney M20 crashed into a wooded area around 11:15 a.m. Monday.
Gregor says the FAA has received reports of one death and one injury, but they have not been confirmed. The airport is located in South Lake Tahoe on the south shore of Lake Tahoe.
The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office says deputies are at the scene of the crash, but a dispatcher did not know about injuries.
Gregor says the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate, with the NTSB serving as the lead agency.
