SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Governor Brown is getting mostly positive feedback on the budget proposal he released yesterday.

These are good times for the governor. The state is in much better financial shape than in past years, partly due to the passage of his tax initiative, Proposition 30. He also says he’s feeling good following his treatment for prostate cancer.

The governor was in an upbeat mood during yesterday’s budget press conference at the capitol, often  joking with  reporters who packed the press room and showing a humorous side the public doesn’t often get to see.

The governor, of course, may not always be so upbeat in the coming months. His budget will be worked on and worked over by state lawmakers, who must pass a new budget for next fiscal year by June 15.
