$40,000 stolen from Michigan church after Easter services

Theives broke in church overnight, police say

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. - More than $40,000 in cash was estimated to have been stolen from the St. Therese Lisieux Catholic Church in Shelby Township, Mich., police said.

Police said the break-in occurred overnight, after Easter services, 7 Action News reported.

Chief Rolland Woelkers of the Shelby Township Police says the cash was taken along with a number of chalices.

The stolen cash had been donated by parishioners over the holiday weekend.
