LAS VEGAS - Harry Reid, the Senate majority leader, was hospitalized in Nevada Friday following a crash in his motorcade, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Sources close to the top Democrat said Reid, 72, appeared to fine after the crash, which occurred as his caravan of four vehicles was traveling northbound on Interstate 15.
The sources said Reid never lost consciousness, and was being evaluated at the hospital out of caution.
The crash happened when vehicles in Reid's motorcade crashed with another civilian vehicle, according to the highway patrol's public information officer Loy Hixson.
Reid was transferred to the University Medical Center in Las Vegas by one of his caravan vehicles. Hixon also said the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. Nobody else involved in the incident was transferred to the hospital.
