Youth Soccer Referee Accused Of Sex With Minor

A youth soccer referee was arrested Saturday after allegations arose stating that he was engaging in sex with minors.

At about 9:25 a.m., California City Police Officers served a search warrant in the 10100 block of Evelyn Avenue.

During the execution of the search warrant, William Alexander Scranton, 29, was arrested.

Officers said they seized several cell phones and two computers during execution of the search warrant at Scranton’s home.

Scranton was arrested on charges of oral copulation with a person under 18, oral copulation with a person under 16, lewd and lascivious acts with a child, harmful matter sent to seduce a minor, contact with a minor with the intent to seduce and arrange a meeting with a minor for lewd and lascivious acts.

Officials said the their investigation lead to the discovery that Scranton met a 15-year-old girl while working as a referee with a youth soccer organization.

After Scranton befriended the victim and her parents, officials said he began sending sexually explicit photographs of himself.

Scranton then arranged to meet with the girl to engage in sexual acts which he performed, officials said.

Scranton will be booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Central Receiving Facility in Bakersfield pending bail or court appearance.
