Saints Extend WR Colston Through 2011

POSTED: 6:18 pm PDT July 23, 2008

(Sports Network) - The New Orleans Saints and wide receiver Marques Colston agreed to a three-year contract extension through the 2011 season Wednesday.

The seventh round pick in the 2006 draft has grossly outperformed his 252nd overall draft selection. In two seasons with the Saints, Colston has compiled the most receptions in his first two seasons than any player in NFL history (168). The Hofstra product set a franchise record last season with 98 catches for 1,202 yards and tied the club mark with 11 touchdowns.

"Marques is a team-first player and a hard worker whose productivity over his first two seasons is unmatched in club history and we believe Marques can be even better as he gains experience in the league," said Saints executive vice president and general manager Mickey Loomis.
