DELANO, Calif. -- As ABC23 continues with stay-cations for the month of July, our travels take us once again to Delano.ABC23's North County reporter Crystal Figueroa met up with one family who traveled to Lake Woollomes for their free getaway. It was almost a family reunion for a group of people who came down to Lake Woollomes from the city of Stratford.
They packed up the kids along with a picnic basket and set up shop alongside the lake. When ABC23 visited the lake, about half-a-dozen children were splashing around in the lake.Parents said they decided to cool off at the lake because the kids would enjoy the time outdoors and the entrance is free.Taking a dip isn't the only thing visitors can do.Officials for the department of parks and recreation said the lake has about 500 acres of water and land for visitors to play ball or just sit under the shade of a tree and enjoy the scenery. One thing lake officials would like to stress is that there is no lifeguard on duty, so visitors are urged to enter the water at their own risk. There is no overnight camping, but visitors are welcomed to stop by seven days a week from sun up to sun down.
