Teen Accused Of Trying To Kill Store Owner

WASCO, Calif. -- A 19-year-old is still outstanding after deputies said he tried killing a store owner in Wasco during a robbery.Around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, deputies responded to Bettadini’s Cigarette Store located at 2355 Hwy 46 in Wasco for a report of a man covered in blood outside the store.Deputies arrived and located Wael El-Bettadini, 49, suffering from multiple stab wounds to his back, head, neck and ear.
Bettadini was transported to Kern Medical Center where he was treated and released for his injuries.During the investigation deputies identified Daniel Gutierrez, 19, as the suspect in this case.A warrant was obtained for Gutierrez in this case charging him with attempted murder.Gutierrez is described as Hispanic. He stands approximately 6 feet 1 inches tall and weighing 165 pounds. He is said to have black hair and brown eyes.Gutierrez also has an outstanding warrant from Shafter Police on charges of kidnap for ransom, burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, and child endangerment.The motive for this case is still under investigation.Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Gutierrez is urged to call Senior Deputy Cantu at 758-7266 ext 7, or the Kern County Sheriff’s Office at 861-3110.
