DELANO, Calif. -- After more than two years of waiting, the City of Delano could be getting a final decision regarding the Delano Market Place (which includes a Super Wal-Mart).On Friday at 1:30pm at Kern County Superior Court Department 8, a judge will issue a ruling regarding the lawsuit filed against the City of Delano by the Citizens for a Better Delano and the City of McFarland. The Delano Marketplace was originally set to be decided in October before a second lawsuit (City of Mcfarland vs. City of Delano) was introduced.
As a result, both lawsuits were consolidated.Delano Councilmember Sam Ramirez said that back in February, a Bakersfield court asked the City to analyze how the Delano Market Place would affect other cities around the area. Ramirez said a judge will look over their changes and decide if the Environment Impact Report adequately addressed urban decay. The Super Wal-Mart is part of a project that will bring thousands of jobs to the City of Delano, and provide much needed retail for the community of Delano.Information Provided by The City Of Delano
