DELANO, Calif. -- Deputies located 43 pounds of methamphetamine and arrested four men during an undercover sting operation in Delano.On Wednesday around 1:20 p.m., deputies assigned to the Kern County Sheriff's Office Major Violators Unit conducted a drug investigation in the parking lot of a business located near Highway 99 and Woolomes Road in Delano.Deputies were assisted by Cal-MMET (California Multi-jurisdictional Methamphetamine Enforcement Team), HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area), and the newly formed KNET (Kern Narcotics Enforcement Team).
Deputies converged on several men who were attempting to sell a large amount of Methamphetamine to an Undercover Officer.Two men, Amador Gaitan, 31, of Tehachapi, and Eduardo Vazquez, 18, of La Mesa, Calif., were taken into custody from within a newer model Chevrolet Impala.Deputies said the Impala contained a secret compartment which had 43 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in it.A third man, Salvador Fernandez, 41, of Tijuana, Mexico, fled the scene in a blue Chevrolet sedan, deputies said.He was stopped a short distance away and arrested.A fourth man, Patricio Solis, 19, of San Diego, was located and arrested in the same parking lot.All four men were transported and booked into the Kern County Jail.The Chevrolet Impala was also seized.The seized methamphetaminane has an estimated street value of $1,952,200.
