Driver Suffers Serious Injuries, 5 Others Hurt

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- The Kern County Fire Department said 11 people went for a wild ride Friday morning when the van they were riding in rolled and then came to a rest on its wheels.Around 6 a.m., Sean Collins of the Kern County Fire Department said, a single passenger van was involved in a rollover accident.The vehicle was traveling along Wasco Way north of 7th Standard Road when the accident occurred.
There was no known cause as to why the van rolled over.The driver and 10 passengers were all out of the vehicle when fire crews arrived, Collins said.Fire crews assisted with the treatment of victims at the scene.The driver, suffering serious injuries, was transferred to an area hospital and five other passengers with minor to moderate injuries were transported to an area hospital.The other passengers refused medical treatment.
