Gang Sweep Nets 17 Arrests

The Delano Police Department conducted Operation: Broken Heart, with the assistance of numerous law enforcement agencies from throughout Kern County and Tulare County.

The operation was a thorough gang sweep with numerous subjects contact with over fifty subjects contacted as gang members.

The law enforcement agencies that assisted Delano Police were the Tulare County South Gang unit, California Highway Patrol-Tulare County Reduce Auto Theft Team (T-RATT), Federal Bureau of Investigation, ICE, Bakersfield Police, Tehachapi Police, Arvin Police, Taft Police, Shafter Police, Stallion Springs Police, McFarland Police, Kern County Probation Department, California Department of Corrections, and the Kern County District Attorneys Office.

  • Vanessa Marquez, 24, was arrested on charges of a stolen vehicle, possession of prohibited weapon, obstructing and or delaying an officer, chop shop, possession of stolen vehicle and conspiracy.
  • Arturo Ortiz Galvan, 27, was arrested on charges of street gang enhancement, chop shop, possession of prohibited weapon, possession of a stolen vehicle, obstruct and or delaying an officer, stolen vehicle, along with five outstanding warrants for his arrest.
  • A male juvenile was arrested on chargse of violation of probation.
  • Sergio Mendoza Medrano, 37, was arrested on charges of an outstanding warrant
  • Armando Landeros, 23, was arrested on charges of parole violation
  • Luis Antonio Trejo, 24, was arrested on charges of parole violation
  • Javier Francisco Velasco, 34, was arrested on charges of two outstanding warrants along with an immigration hold
  • Arnulfo Vasquez Santiago, 30, was arrested on charges of possession of unlawful syringe, possession of marijuana, less than an ounce, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of an unlawful weapon, outstanding warrant, along with an immigration hold
  • Andres Mendoza Suarez, 27, was arrested on charges of outstanding warrant
  • Armando Enrique Herrera, 24, was arrested on charges of possession for sales, along with an outstanding warrant
  • Alberto Herrera, 33, was arrested on charges of parole violation
  • Joel Pimental Hernandez, 26, was arrested on charges of an outstanding warrant
  • Jose Luis Ledesma, 26, was arrested on charges of two outstanding warrants along with a parole violation
  • Leonides Rivera, 19, was arrested on charges of outstanding warrant, obstructing and or delaying on officer
  • Donna Holguin, 50, was arrested on charges of an outstanding warrant
  • Andrew Cota, 18, was arrested on charges of three outstanding warrants
  • Leopoldo Henderson Caraan, 29, was arrested on charges of an outstanding warrant
