WASCO, Calif. -- For some, Labor Day is a time to relax and spend time with loved one but for others it’s a time to be thankful for having a job during the current economy.“I think that I’m lucky to have a job because there are many people unemployed right now. But not everyone is so fortunate to have a job in Kern County, the current unemployment rate stands at 16 percent.“It’s a tough moment for everyone so people that have a job right now should feel lucky about that,” said Felipe Figueroa, a farm worker at Sun World. While some were hard at work today, others had a chance to enjoy a long weekend with loved ones.“My wife and I are both in health care and we’ve worked our fair share of holidays. We spent the weekend in Lake San Antonio with family and friends,” said Ken Cleek from Bakersfield.California’s unemployment in July was 12.8 percent.Kern county ranked 44th in the state (out of 58), ahead of Fresno which ranked 46th.The county ranked number 1 with the lowest unemployment was Marin, with 8.6 percent unemployment.
