BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- The melodrama was sold out every night when they performed "My Big Fat Oildale Wedding," so they decided to bring back all the fun and help out the community at the same time.All the proceeds from the reopening red carpet event will benefit the Oildale Centennial Celebration. The money will go to redevelopment and revitalization projects in Oildale.The play combines a parody of a popular film with a salute to Oildale. “My Big Fat Oildale Weddind“ tells a story of a young couple who falls in love and wants to marry. The heart-warming, fun-loving laughter begin as the couple family tries to keep them a part.
The original play ran in March to sold-out crowds until it ended in April.Now those who want to see it again or missed it the first time, have that chance.Trout's nightclub is donating, one of a kind guitars, autographed by selected musicians to be auctioned off at the event.If you want to get tickets for Thursday night's fundraiser performance, they are almost sold out.Ticket prices are $50 for front row seats and $25 for the rest.Contact the Gaslight Melodrama for more information 587-3377.
