BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Children, parents and teachers protested Friday in front of a northwest Bakersfield church and school over allegations a teacher there has been using corporal punishment. The crowd grew Friday morning as more and more gathered in front of the church. Children held signs saying “zero tolerance for spanking” and “don't take your frustrations out on me.”The protest stems from allegations that a teacher spanked a 2-year-old boy without his parents' permission.
Brenna Moore, the mother of the 2-year-old, said, “My son told me he was spanked by his teacher and I took my concerns to the school and to date, nothing has been done."Protesters said since the alleged spanking incident, several teachers who spoke out against it have been fired or quit. Those teachers were among the protestors Friday morning.ABC23 spoke with the school and they informed us that they’ve done their own investigation and have found no wrongdoing.
