BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Bakersfield police say a wrong-way driver caused a fiery crash at Rosedale Highway and Calloway Road Wednesday that made a mess out of the morning commute.Police said that several witnesses told them a black car came speeding down Calloway Road on the wrong side of the road, ran a red light, skidded through the intersection and hit a car that was turning before crashing into several stopped cars.Several people had minor to moderate injuries -- with possibly some broken bones, police said.
Police said it was not known why that driver was on the wrong side of the road, but they said alcohol did not seem to be a factor.Police are investigating whether that driver had some sort of medical emergency behind the wheel. The intersection was fully reopened Wednesday morning.
