OILDALE, Calif. -- An Oildale man wrote a book about his faith and he hopes that it will encourage those who read it.His name is Robert Lee Horttor and you won't find his book at Barnes and Noble but you may find it inspirational if you can get a copy.Horttor said he is not looking to get rich and reach the world with his book, but he wants to reach the world around him.
A retired civil engineer who moved to Oildale in 1964, he decided that others may benefit from what, he said, the Lord was doing in his life. The book is titled Meet The Conditions."I went through several titles before I came up with that name. The last sentence in the books says, if you claim any of God's promises, you must meet the conditions," said Horttor.Horttor believes that we are living in difficult times and hopes that at least one person will receive the message of his book."I believe we are in the end times and a person must trust in the Messiah," said Horttor. There has only been 100 copies of the book printed so far and he has sold at least 60 copies. His book is a compilation of about the last 25 years of his personal experiences and journals and how his faith played a roll.At this point Horttor is self-published and the book is available at amazon.com and createspace.com for just under $10.But if you happen to see Horttor in Oildale, he may have a copy of the book for you to share.
