Armed Suspect Surrenders To Sheriff's SWAT

McKittrick, Calif. -- Early Saturday morning, Kern County sheriff deputies responded to the 22000 block of E Street in McKitrick on a report of a subject firing a gun during a dispute with family members.Deputies and officers from Taft Police Department arrived on scene and found John Mark Sagaser of McKitrick at the residence.Sagaser refused to obey deputies commands and a TASER was fired but proved ineffective.
Deputies said that Sagaser, who displayed two pistols to officers, retreated to a trailer at the location.Sheriff's SWAT responded and after several hours, the negotiator was able to convince Sagaser to surrender, according to deputies.Deputies said Sagaser came out of the residence and was arrested on a warrant without further incident.No one was injured during the incident and the Department appreciates the assistance of the TPD and the California Highway Patrol in bringing this incident to a safe conclusion.Sagaser was booked in the Central Receiving Facility on charges of reckless discharge of a firearm and ex-felon in possession of a firearm.
