Mother In Frazier Park Prostitution Team In Trouble Again

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- A Frazier Park woman arrested in September for offering prostitution on the Internet has now been arrested in New York.Nassau County authorities told ABC23 that 56-year-old Katherine Silvers was arrested Wednesday evening and arraigned Thursday morning. She was charged with a felony count of operating a massage parlor without a license and a misdemeanor count of prostitution.In the state of New York, a person practicing massage has to be licensed.
She was arrested by an undercover officer from the Nassau County Police Department in a hotel in the town of Westbury, NY.In September, Kern County sheriff deputies arrested Silvers and her daughter, Sarah Sunshine, on suspicion of soliciting prostitution on Craigslist and Backpage.com in the Frazier Park area.Both women have not been charged in Kern County, but instead they were cited on suspicion of solicitation.Prosecutors here are waiting for more information from the Kern County Sheriff's department, according to David Ingrum, the deputy district attorney assigned to the case.The case in New York will not have any impact on the investigation here, Ingrum said.Deputies told ABC23 that Silvers continued to post her masseuse services online in Long Island, NY.Silvers worked as an instructional aide at Rio Norte Junior High School in Santa Clarita, but was dismissed after being arrested in September.
