Sheriff: Husband Stabs Wife In Buttocks

LAMONT, Calif. -- Deputies said that a woman was taken to the hospital after her husband stabbed her in the buttocks.On Sunday around 7 p.m., deputies from the Lamont Substation responded to a report of a stabbing in the 3300 block of Weedpatch Highway.When deputies arrived they said they found a large amount of blood inside and outside the house, they said.
Deputies were able to locate Eileen Portillo Vara, 51, suffering from a stab wound to her right buttocks and a laceration to her left thumb.The investigation determined that Eileen’s husband, Ismael Vara Jr., 45, stabbed her, deputies said.Ismael was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and spousal battery.He was booked into the Kern County Jail, and his bail was set at $50,000.Eileen was transported to Kern Medical Center by ambulance.
