Early Morning Crash On Interstate 5 Kills Driver
50-Year-Old Long Beach Man Dies In Rollover Crash

LOST HILLS, Calif. -- The California Highway Patrol said early Wednesday morning the driver of a pickup truck died after a rollover crash on Interstate 5 near Lerdo Highway in Lost Hills.The CHP said the crash happened about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, when the driver apparently fell asleep at the wheel.The CHP said the truck was swerving before the crash, and the truck rolled about five times. The truck then came to land on its roof in the center divider.
Two people were pulled to safety, but the driver, Antonio Rios Perez, 50, of Long Beach, was pinned in and died at the scene, the CHP said.The CHP wants to remind drivers to be safe on the roadways this holiday season. Buckle up, stay off your cell phone, and report any drunk drivers to 911.The CHP maximum enforcement period begins Thursday night, Christmas Eve, at 6 p.m. and lasts through Sunday at midnight. There will be an influx of officers patrolling the highways for speeders, drunk drivers, and those not wearing their seat belts.
