TAFT, Calif. -- Police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead Sunday in Taft.On Sunday, around 4:45 p.m., deputies from the Taft substation were dispatched to a victim of a shooting at 216 Jefferson St., in Taft.Deputies said they found James Lawrence Cash, 46, with a gunshot wound to the head.
Cash was transported to Kern Medical Center where he eventuallly died as a result of his injuries.Homicide detectives were notified and began an investigation into the shooting.Deputies said there were two other adults at the residence, as well as two children, at the time of the shooting.Detectives obtained statements from these individuals who are all cooperating with the investigation. They have been released.There are no suspects at this time, and the firearm that was used in the shooting has been recovered. The investigation is continuing.
