BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- A juvenile and a 32-year-old man were stabbed at a birthday party Sunday night after police said an argument took place between family members.

Around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, officers with the Bakersfield Police Department went to a home in the 1300 block of Hadar Road in response to a stabbing.

When officers arrived they said they found a male juvenile who was suffering from a single stab wound to his right abdomen.

An investigation revealed that the residents at the home were celebrating a birthday when family members became involved in a fight, the BPD reported. During the course of the fight, the juvenile and a second person, Jorge Castillo, 32, were stabbed, the BPD said.

Salvador Montalvo, 20, was later arrested in connection with the assault, according to the BPD.

Both the juvenile and Castillo's injuries were non life-threatening and they were transported to area hospitals.
