BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Around 11:10 a.m. Wednesday, the BPD received a call of a possible drowning at a home in the 5500 block of Dustin Street. When the BPD arrived, officers learned that the homeowners were out of town and that their 22-year-old foster-child and a 21-year-old man were house-sitting and watching their dog.The foster-son, a mother and her two kids, Marcus Tucker, 4, and Micah Tucker, 1, and the roommate were all at the home.
Investigation revealed that the boys spent the night at the house on Dustin Street with the two men, where the 22-year-old was house-sitting for his foster parents. The mother arranged for the two men to babysit the boys the night before and had not yet arranged to retrieve them.In the morning, while the 22-year-old still slept, the 21-year-old was caring for the children. The 21-year-old said he went to use the bathroom leaving the children unattended in the den and when he returned the children were no longer in the house. He searched the house and then the back yard finding the two little boys in the pool at which time he pulled them from the pool and made the 911 call. The fire department gave him instructions on the phone on how to perform CPR on the children. When police arrived, the man was still giving CPR to the boys. One boy was transported to Mercy Hospital and the other was transported to San Joaquin Hospital. Both children have died as a result of their injuries. The mother and the homeowners were notified. The case is still under investigation. Once the police investigation, including the examination by the Coroner’s office, is completed it will be sent to the Kern County District Attorney’s Office for review.
