UPDATED: 11:30 am PDT September 7, 2010

A small plane crashed in Lamont, and emergency crews are trying to figure out what went wrong.

Around 9 a.m. on Tuesday, ABC23 learned that a private plane that was either in the middle of takeoff or landing ended up touching the nose of the plane into hay bales on Millux Road.

Crews said that contact started a minor grass fire that crews were quickly able to control.

According to the Kern County Fire Department, the pilot did not suffer any injuries and was able to walk away from the accident.
