Two people are in critical condition Monday morning after two separate shooting in southwest Bakersfield, a Bakersfield Police Department official said.

According to the BPD, on Sunday about 10:58 p.m., officers were called out to the 4300 block of Parkwood Court for a possible assault.

There, officers found Curtis Weston, 19, with a gunshot wound to the chest and an uninjured Brandon Bonner, 19, in the vehicle, police said. About two minutes later, officers found 22-year-old Daronda Bagsby who had been shot 7 times in the chest while in her vehicle, medical officials told ABC23.

A preliminary investigation has determined that Weston and another man were sitting inside a vehicle that was parked in a driveway in front of a four-plex apartment building at 4301 Parkwood Court when two men began shooting at them in the vehicle with handguns, police said. Witnesses told police the gunmen fled westbound on Parkwood Court. Witnesses also told police they saw a man with a rifle running westbound on Parkwood Court after the shootings, and heard several gunshots, police said. They believe that is when Bagsby was shot.

Bagsby is not believed to be involved, she had just gotten off work and was on her way to a friends house and was traveling east on Parkwood Court when she heard gunfire, the BPD reported.

Police said that Bagsby made a U-turn to get out of the area and as she was traveling west on Parkwood Court an unidentified Black male, armed with a rifle, shot at her car multiple times, striking her multiple times, the BPD reported.

Bagsby was located by officers responding to the shooting scene, stopped in her car, at McDonald Way and Belle Terrace and taken to a local hospital.

Police have arrested Joseph Bates, 19, and Sedrick Walker 19. Both were arrested on two counts of attempted murder, participation in a criminal street gang and conspiracy.

Police say the shootings are gang-related.
