BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- The Kern Chapter of the California Native Plant Society (CNPS) is said to be holding its annual native plant sale on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Environmental Studies Area on the CSUB campus.Sample garden displays will help you choose plants that have the same water and sun requirements to provide growing success. Plants to suit shade, full sun, low water requirements or regular water requirements and even plants for a cutting garden will be on display and available for purchase. "The diversity of Califoarnia habitats is represented in the variety of native plants. There are plants for every home landscape that will also improve your curb appeal", says Bonnie East, plant sale co-chair.Proceeds from the sale help with restoration and clean-up projects around Bakersfield and provide scholarships to science fair winners in the botany category.
The California Native Plant Society strives to increase understanding and appreciation of California's native plants and to conserve them in their natural habitats through science, education, advocacy, horticulture and land stewardship. For more information regarding the CNPS visit, California Native Plant Society Web site.
