University Of Phoenix Expands Bakersfield Learning Center

POSTED: 11:57 am PST November 10, 2009

The University of Phoenix has recently expanded its Bakersfield Learning Center, increasing the number of classrooms available to students and unveiling a super resource center. On Thursday, November 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. the University will host a grand opening event for students, alumni, local businesses, and community members to tour the newly expanded Learning Center.

“University of Phoenix is thrilled to unveil our expanded Learning Center that offers new and improved resources for our students, alumni, faculty, and staff in Bakersfield,” said Ann Tye, Central Valley Campus Director for University of Phoenix. “As educators, it is critical for us to continue to meet the needs of our students, and by expanding our facilities, amenities, and providing more resources, such as additional computer labs and study rooms, we encourage our student’s success.”

The Bakersfield Learning Center, located on California Avenue, previously had twenty-one classrooms and one computer lab for students. After the expansion of the Learning Center took place, the facility now has twenty-five classrooms, and a super resource center boasting twenty-nine computers, 3 interview rooms, a tutor bar where students can receive additional instruction, a student lounge with 4 flat screen televisions, and a coffee bar.

The University of Phoenix Bakersfield Learning Center first opened its’ doors in 1998, and is excited to celebrate the expansion of the Learning Center on their eleventh year of operation.
