Cal State Students 'Rock Out For Haiti' Relief

Student Organization Teams Up With Club To Raise Money For Haiti Medical Help

A local student organization is mixing music with charity to raise money for Haiti earthquake relief.

Images of leveled buildings, death and streets filled with devastation is embedded in many American's minds.

They are images that hit home with students in the Cal State Bakersfield chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America.

"Everybody saw on the news the devastating impact the earthquake had in Haiti and we wanted to be a part of that and we all felt it in our hearts to contribute," said Danielle Green of PRSSA.

The group put their heads together, did some networking and came up with the "Rock Out For Haiti" benefit.

Local bands, Meditated Assault and Shilo along with Glen & the Sunshine Gang will take the stage Friday night at Replay Lounge and Grill to mark the two month anniversary of the Haiti earthquake.

"Even though the earthquake happened two months ago, we really hope people feel connected to it to come out and support and have a good time," said Becky Reese of PRSSA.

All the money raised will go to the international medical humanitarian organization, Doctors Without Borders.

Reese is hoping the group will raise at least $1,000 to give to the organization.

"They still need so much help, so we are just hoping we can contribute even in the smallest amount to making families come back together and helping those that need medical help and helping those babies that have no other idea what life is and improve on theirs," said Reese.

Rock Out For Haiti Fri. March 12 Rock Show 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. After Party 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. 18+ Event, $10 Cover Replay Lounge and Grill 4500 Buck Owens Blvd.
